The skills programme Counterbalanced Lift Truck F1 Driver at NQF Level 3 is one of the 16 Lift Truck Driver skills programmes listed in the National Code of Practice for Training Providers (2015) - This Skills Programme has common knowledge modules to allow for articulation between Counterbalanced Lift Truck F1 Driver and other lift machine Skills Programmes. The need for Lift Machine Operators within various sectors such as transport, mining, manufacturing, production, construction, and warehousing sectors has created a demand for people with the skills to use and operate different types of lift trucks to perform a wide range of activities safely and efficiently, with due consideration to the context in which they operate. This skills programme was also developed to standardise the practice of accreditation, resulting in improved quality in terms of programme delivery. Typical learners for this skills programme will be anyone seeking to be certificated as an operator of the said machine. The Counterbalanced Lift Truck F1 Driver skills programme at NQF Level 3, may provide qualifying learners with access to qualifications in related fields.

The Counterbalanced Lift Truck F2 skills programme at NQF Level 3 may provide qualifying learners with access to qualifications in related fields. This skills programme should allow qualifying learners to be certificated to operate a Counterbalanced Lift Truck F2. Qualified learners could progress to become Crane or Hoist Operators or gain access to the Occupational Certificate: Rigger.

This skills programme should allow qualifying learners to be certificated to operate a Counterbalanced Lift Truck F3. This qualification is for new entrants from schools, unemployed individuals and employees who are currently employed within the Environmental related sectors and wishing to formalise their experience. Learners who undertake this programme will receive training in Environmental Sciences, while focusing on developing an understanding of the physical, chemical, mathematical, biological and social dimensions of environmental problems and issues. The qualification is structured in such a way that it allows for specialisation in Waste, Air and Natural Resources Conservation. Upon completion, learners could possibly be employed as Environmental Science Technician in National, Provincial and Local Government, private sector or alternatively start their own businesses as eco-entrepreneurs.

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Project Manager. A Project Manager applies knowledge of project management to achieve project objectives in a specific field of application.

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as an Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner, who serves as a facilitator and advisor to employees and management regarding safety and health aspects in the workplace including the monitoring and inspecting of the workplace and the recording and investigation of incidents and accidents. They also implement and maintain Occupational Health and Safety systems in order to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
These qualifications are applicable to a range of contexts within the field of environmental science, environmental management and waste management, such as local government, public and private waste management enterprises, cultural or natural heritage sites, community projects, recycling and recovery of resources, control and eradication of invasive and alien species, rural development and site preparation or rehabilitation. It is also suitable for workers with environmental functions in a range of industries such as mining, chemicals or manufacturing.

The qualification is aimed at councilors, leaders and municipal managers in local government. The typical learner will be an employee in local government, wishing to gain the competence to fulfill the requirements of his/her current job obligations or a municipal employee or councilor wishing to gain a qualification so as to advance his/her career opportunities. In addition persons seeking future employment in the local government sector may choose to complete this qualification.

This qualification will form the basis for learners to extend their learning into more specialised areas of animal production and provides the basis of the establishment of sustainable farming operations through the inclusion of a wide spectrum of competencies required by farmers in South Africa. Whilst technical production orientated competencies are ensured, other aspects such as agri-business and good agricultural practices are included in the range of competencies required by farmers in order to enable them to strive towards agricultural management standards and practices at higher levels.

The qualification includes the skills necessary to monitor and maintain health and safety in the horticultural industry while addressing the nutritional needs of plants, controlling common pests in the horticultural environment, attending to the basic maintenance of grassed areas and shaping plants to promote flowering. In addition, the qualification provides the opportunity for the learner at level 3 to become conversant with the application of supervisory management principles in the industry.

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the required knowledge, practical skills and workplace-based learning experience to prepare a learner to operate as a Supply Chain Practitioner. A Supply Chain Practitioner develops operational schedules and action plans to coordinate service delivery in the supply chain in accordance with customer/end user requirements and performance objectives and manages relationships with customer/end user and suppliers.
